Dickerts Ignores Even More Campaign Rules

CRG of Racine has alerted me to check into Mayor Dickerts campaign website http://johndickert.org/  Which has been up since at least December 1st 2010.  As of today it still is missing one particular election disclaimer:

"Authorized and paid for by....blah blah blah".

First Occupancy Permits for his West Racine HQ's; and now he's ignoring the State Election / GAB requirements.  Now I'm no fan of excess "restrictions", or excess Govt. regulations;  but theses are the rules.  When someone comes to Racine to open a business, we seem to invent new rules, regulations and obstacles for them as they sit before the Mayor and the council...and then once they open their business we heap ever more restrictions, and make it more difficult to succeed, in a challenging business climate.

I suspect that sometime in the next day or so, this will be remedied.  I made a screen capture as of today.  The "Letter from John" page is also missing the disclaimer.

     H/T  CRG of Racine.

Update:  Sometime between 3:36 pm Central time and 4:00 pm the Mayor's campaign staff did  make the correction.  I have a full page print out of before my posting. It looks like it took about 3-4 hours to correct, and comply.   Good work Mr. Mayor.

  1. This isn't a screen capture, it's just a copy of the underlying graphic.

Go to the page (http://johndickert.org/) and scroll down. You'll see the PayPal donate link and the disclaimer under that.

  3. Thanks Randum. I printed it earlier in the day including donate button and the disclaimer wasn't there at the time. as of 3:36 today it was still not on there. But nice try to cover up...I expected nothing less.
Good job Treasurer or Web site Admin person! It's these pretend cover-ups that get your guy in trouble. Just admit you didn't have it on there, and suck it up!

  5. You spoke the truth about this, something so small as a disclaimer, they should have said oops, fixed it and moved on, but try to say others are lying that's BS.. And people wonder WHY I HATE POLITICS

  6. What about the campaign ad for Eric Marcus on Racineuncovered? That requires a disclaimer as well. People who live in glass houses ...

  7. Is that an advertisement or simply RU's endorsement. It look's like an endorsement to me. thus it's unpaid, and requires nothing from the campaign. It also falls under RU's 1st amendment rights!

  8. LOL sorry it's not an ad, I wish I made money on my website. I don't I have to pay for my police reports, do nice thing for Dino's since they did the miracle on 16th. I also endorsed our new sheriff, alderman and state government. Any other questions? You need to read my disclaimer page too silly

  9. PS if you look at my Post ERIC MARCUS for Mayor. On December 30th at 1:49 p.m. I clearly state for the world to see
racineuncovered, on December 30th, 2010 at 1:49 pm Said:
I’m going to make this clear to everyone, before anyone can accuse this site of anything. I am endorsing Eric Marcus for Mayor, this is my site and my opinion, you have the right to vote for who ever you want based on your own beliefs. I believe that Eric has the knowledge, the credibility, the intelligence and the passion to get this city back on track for the people! I am not gaining anything from endorsing him other than when I cast my vote at election time he wins and we’ll all benefit from this city improving!

  10. Since you think you know so much Anon, please read this post http://racineuncovered.org/?p=27346

I welcomed anyone running for office to contact me, some did... Dickert didn't I would interview him in a heartbeat!

  11. An endorsement on someone's blog, even a little graphic with a link, does not require a disclaimer. An ad would, but this is very clearly not that.

  12. RU 714pm-
You are right, Marcus is the right person for the job.

I dont know what the mayor can claim as success? Adding more houses to an already glutted market?

  13. I understand a complaint will be filed with the state elections board regarding racine uncovereds ad. If it looks like an ad, talks like an ad then it is an ad. It is a static ad-doesnt matter if it is her website-she has to follow the rules.

  14. Et Tu Anon.10:38?

A private opinion Blog which is free to use and doesn't charge for advertising would be hard pressed to require such disclosures. 1st Amendment rights would prevail. If you look at the top of my Blog page I clearly outline my position, to separate myself from the group "LiberTEA Racine". RU is under no obligation to do that for it's own personal site, which is a combination of local; late breaking news, and RU's opinions. If would you like to know the place to check into such searches? Let me know, I have no fear that RU will stand up to whatever scrutiny.

If the J. Times endorses Marcus in the newspaper they don't have to add the disclaimer, neither does RU.

Frankly in my opinion I think the whole "Paid for by..." BS is ridiculous; But since the Lefties (Russ Feingold, et al), wanted these limitations on speech...it's only fair that Mayor Dickert should get some flack. That is just a bit of evidence to his teams lack of detail. But the bigger story here is how they then tried to pretend CRG of Racine and I, lied about the page capture..only to have it proved they were lying. Just like the whole phoniness about the Office in West Racine, and now we see clearly the Mayor is inviting folks to visit his office. Yet STILL no occupancy permit!

Keep watching over the next few weeks and ALWAYS check the math and the Facts on Dickerts Campaign and his supporters. They have no shame at distortions, and falsehoods. Somehow I don't think that is printed on the "Pledge", stop by the campaign office and check it out! :^)

  15. Sorry but it is more than just a one time endorsement. It is an ad. All racineuncovered has to do is put a disclaimer on it. No big deal. However if they fail to comply it could result in a fine. Election laws are clear. Whats good for the gander is good for the goose.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon 8AM- Yes the laws are clear, it is not an ad. The GAB made very clear rules about how blogs are not regulated. It is an opinion. The comparison to the Journal Times making an endorsement is spot on.

  17. Wow got a call from the DA today on this issue! Here's the short version on the "disclaimer". Wisconsin does require it. However in a US Supreme Ct. decision, the Majority opinion found it was difficult to enforce because of Freedom of speech issues. Thus the "remedy", is typically a call to remind the candidates campaign and it gets fixed.

I stated above I thought it was ridiculous, but so are many of the other hoops businesses have to jump through in our city to open for commerce.

What was most revealing in this case and the occupancy, was how the "Clean" campaign folks were willing to blatantly lie, about these 2 silly little issues. If they will lie about the little stuff, how can we trust them on the big stuff?

  18. WAB already checked out my blog (while I was on the phone with them) they didn't see anything wrong with it at all, since my blog was started and is 95% about CRIME and I can endorse whoever I want. They said they would double check everything but since there is no pay involved, no paid advertising, nothing it's really a non-issue

  19. Looks like Dickert's web guy tried to cover his tracks but failed miserably. How embarrassing.

  20. Let him talk about the ten year plan or the Housing Scam I mean program. My guess there is far more interesting scandal

  21. If someone still has a problem with my blog RACINEUNCOVERED. Bring it and please at least have the guts to say who you are and not hide behind "anon" sheesh. You should see what I am saying about Eric Marcus :)

  22. The equivocations of both sides reinforce the opinions of the principles.

Technicalities aside, we have a current Mayor that has ill served the community.

I hope the electors resolve this conundrum, and elect a competent leader.

  23. Oh no, Marcus' paid ad on theracineinsideronline.com website is missing the disclaimer. Call the journal times, call the district attorney, call the tea party or better yet-call rootriversiren. Tbis is a travesty of justice!!! If Marcus cant approve a simple ad, how can he govern us?

I have only deleted 2 comments in the past 3 months. Both were removed because a name was mentioned in the comment and was not germane to the issue. Neither were because of being off topic, or offensive. No comments on the above topic have been removed. I posted my restrictions above. Very seldom do I remove a comment.

  26. More bets than substance at the JT - Johnboy was talking to the President and the best they could get for a story was a Kringle bet?

If you were Mayor of Racine would that be the one and only thing you would discuss with the President of the United States?

Didn't think so. Only Johnboy himself could write this script. Goodnight Daddy. Goodnight Johnboy.

If he can't bring home some money for crime or another important project for Racine, my vote is to text him immediately and give him permission to stay in D.C. permanently and on his own dime.

  27. Maybe Dickert was thinking ahead with his NSP Housing Program. Come April, he will have plenty of time to help sell these houses.

  28. Anon Jan 21st 9:29 Regarding the "Ad" for Marcus on racineinsider.com That ad is not a "paid for" Adv. it is merely RI linking to Marcus's website. I added more details on Feb 10th after the candidate finance reports came out.
